2 Sisters Food Group is one of Britain’s most compelling Food & Drink Manufacturing success stories of the past 20 years, having become one of the leading food manufacturers in Europe. Producing around one third of all poultry eaten in the UK, 2 Sisters process an astonishing nine million birds per week for the UK and European market.
The West Bromwich born business began life in 1993 where it turned over a modest £6million, with the business reaching highs of over £3billion in recent years. Since then 2 Sisters Food Group has seen astronomical; growth with numerous site openings and business acquisitions, both within the UK and Europe, leading to the manufacturer gaining a huge foothold in the market and becoming an unstoppable force in the poultry industry.
With a testing time and fragile market conditions, there is a positive upturn in sales predicted, although low breast meat prices mean continued challenges for the industry to overcome.
Due to internal promotion, Circle Select were tasked with finding an Interim Site Lead whilst 2 Sisters implemented an internal review with the aim to find a successor for the role.
This came at a challenging and crucial time as the site was mid-way through a large turnaround, therefore it was extremely important for a smooth and seamless transition. The need for an Interim was high due to there being no local talent pool.
Further to this, the site also had a challenging reputation to overcome in order to attract the right permanent talent.
The Circle Select Solution
Circle Select started the process by conducting an in-depth market search for a highly skilled Site Lead. Once this search had been undertaken, a shortlist of protein-heavy interim specialists was made up and further reviewed.
After understanding the individual needs of the contractors and the client, we were able to place an Interim Contractor into the role whose fit and impact were so strong that they were offered the role permanently. The rationale behind this was also to allow the individual time to help build long-term improvement.
The process from being tasked with the role to placing the Interim took a period of only 4 weeks, with an immediate and lasting impact being the result.
The result of these changes was a site run autonomously by the Site Lead themselves. They were able to progress the site turnaround, further allowing the internally promoted director to focus on more group-wide projects.
